We’re starting off our Graphic Novel Extravaganza with a sketch-off between two local artists and you get to vote on what superhero they’ll draw! Following the sketch-off, Batman and Wonder Woman will be visiting the Library. There’ll also be fun crafts and activities including DIY Graphic Novels. Our two Sketch-off Artists are Andrew Thomas and Dave McCreary. Andrew Thomas Andrew Thomas, hailing from Brantford, Ontario, is a highly acclaimed Comic Book Artist and Letterer. He has had the honor of collaborating with a diverse range of publishers, such as Dark Horse, Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Disney, Archie Comics, and many others. One of Andrew's notable achievements is his co-creation of the Canadian comic series Auric of the Great White North, which garnered accolades at the Canadian Independent Comic Book Wiki Awards. He was honored with awards for Favorite Artist and Favorite Comic Book for his outstanding work on the series. As a Comic Book Letterer, Andrew has an extensive body of work, boasting over 160 publications to his credit. In 2023, he received the Sequential Magazine Award for Favorite Letterer. As a youngster he was an avid reader of Tintin and Asterix comic books at the Brantford Public Library. In his teens and twenties, he worked for a number of printing and sign companies around Canada, before becoming a teacher of graphic design. Dave was the editorial cartoonist for The Brant News for eight years until the newspaper was eventually shut down. After that he taught himself to paint and got involved in the 'Art Battle' circuit, creating speed paintings in 20 minutes. In 2018 he made it to the national championships.
