Planting Party!

Who’s ready to get their hands dirty? March Break is a great time to get seeds started for your garden. So, we’re partnering with Equal Grounds Community Gardens for a planting party! We’ll supply the dirt and seeds you need to start your garden! We’ll also decorate pots for your plants, so bring your creativity.

Homework Help (Grades 2 - 8)

For elementary school students in Grades 2-8, please join Laurier Students for Literacy at the Main Branch from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for 1:1 tutoring help, including reading and writing support.

Winter programs run from January 27th - April 3rd. There are no regular programs during Reading Week (February 17th-21st). 

Registration opens on January 1st. Email lsflclub@gmail.com or visit their Facebook Page, Laurier Students for Literacy Brantford, to register.

Please be aware that 1:1 tutoring programs are popular, and registration is very limited. Registration is run on a first-come-first-served basis.

Book a Librarian

Our Book a Librarian program provides you with one hour of one-on-one help from Library staff. During this session, our staff can help you with:

  • Using the Internet
  • Using online databases
  • Accessing our digital collection and online tools
  • Searching and using our online catalogue
  • Finding books
  • Research tips Introduction to family history resources

One-on-one sessions will be held at our Main Branch. Note:  Library staff is unable to assist with troubleshooting personal computers/laptops, installing software, typing documents and forms, and making online purchases.

The Library’s LinkedIn Learning service offers free online courses on a variety of tech topics, including iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tablets. On our Research and Learning page, you can sign in for free with your library card and PIN.

Canada Connects: English Conversation Circles

Canada Connects helps newcomers receive informal support enhancing their spoken language skills. Volunteer facilitators organize conversation circles along certain social themes that are discussed in each session. These conversation groups allow newcomers and volunteers to meet other newcomers, share experiences, socialize, and make new friends.

This program is for newcomers to Canada, 18 years and older. It is a partnership of YMCA Immigrant Services—YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford and Brantford Public Library, supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Design Your Own Coaster (Parent & Child Edition)

Parents and children (10+) will learn the basics of creating designs in the Silhouette Studios software and together create custom designs for their coasters. We’ll provide everything you need.

Parent and child must register as a pair. Please include the first and last name of the child on the registration form.
