Join us every Monday for in-person rhymes, sensory development activities, motor skill methods, stories, and socializing among babies and caregivers. Books from our collection will be carefully selected with a particular theme and are available for borrowing.

Canada Connects: English Conversation Circles

Canada Connects helps newcomers receive informal support enhancing their spoken language skills. Volunteer facilitators organize conversation circles along certain social themes that are discussed in each session. These conversation groups allow newcomers and volunteers to meet other newcomers, share experiences, socialize, and make new friends.

This program is for newcomers to Canada, 18 years and older. A partnership of YMCA Immigrant Services – YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford and Brantford Public Library, supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

October 16 - Squeegee Painting: Experiment with acrylics and unusual tools.

Registration begins September 11.


November 21 - Autumn Leaf Bowl: Create a decorative bowl out of leaves.

Registration begins October 16.


December 5 - Mason Jar Candle Holder: Create a sparking centrepiece for winter!

Registration begins November 13.

Senior Storywriters

Senior Storywriters is a creative writing group for seniors (55+). Through group discussion and peer support, participants will learn about the craft of writing, and practice turning story ideas into engaging narrative tales. Book a Librarian

Our Book a Librarian program provides you with one-hour of one-on-one help from Library staff. 
During this session, our staff can help you with:

  • Using the Internet
  • Using online databases
  • Accessing our digital collection and online tools
  • Searching and using our online catalogue
  • Finding books
  • Research tips
  • Introduction to family history resources

One-on-one sessions will be held at our Main Branch.

Note:  Library staff are unable to assist with troubleshooting personal computers/laptops, installing software, typing documents and forms and online purchases.

The Library’s LinkedIn Learning service offers free online courses on a variety of tech topics, including iPhones and iPads and Android phones and tablets. Sign in for free with your library card and PIN on our Research and Learning page.

Introduction to 3D Design

Learn the basics of 3D design while creating your own simple 3D object.  We’ll show you how to use free online software and prepare and submit your design to be printed at the Library.  Basic computer skills required. 

This workshop will be offered twice:
September 10 at 6:00 PM (Registration opens August 15)
October 29 at 6:00 PM (Registration opens October 1)
