Book a Librarian

Our Book a Librarian program provides you with one hour of one-on-one help from Library staff. During this session, our staff can help you with:

  • Using the Internet
  • Using online databases
  • Accessing our digital collection and online tools
  • Searching and using our online catalogue
  • Finding books
  • Research tips Introduction to family history resources

One-on-one sessions will be held at our Main Branch. Note:  Library staff is unable to assist with troubleshooting personal computers/laptops, installing software, typing documents and forms, and making online purchases.

The Library’s LinkedIn Learning service offers free online courses on a variety of tech topics, including iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tablets. On our Research and Learning page, you can sign in for free with your library card and PIN.

Sensory Storytime

Sensory Storytime is a welcoming, inclusive program for children ages 0–6 who enjoy movement, a calmer space, and sensory play. Families will enjoy interactive stories, songs, and movement activities in a small-group setting.
 
Registration is required for each session. To register, email kthomas@brantfordlibrary.ca beginning January 5. All abilities are welcome!

Brantford Chess Club Drop-In

The Brantford Chess Club offers basic instructions and tips on how to improve your chess game during this drop-in event.

 

All ages welcome. This is a drop-in program.

Bell City Strum Club

2:30 PM | 173 Colborne Street

Bring your ukulele and join us twice a month for 90 minutes of music, song, and fun! This group is for beginners (age 16+), and no previous experience with the ukulele is needed.   

Registration is not required, but new members should email Robin at rharding@brantfordlibrary.ca to introduce themselves and for a brief orientation. A limited number of ukuleles and music stands will be available to borrow.   

About our instructors:

Catherine Gorecki and Genevieve Rochette have been playing and teaching together for over a decade.  They led the Dufferin Ukulele Ensemble at Ecole Dufferin School, performing at the Kiwanis festival and on the Sanderson Centre Stage. In March 2023 they travelled together to Banos, Ecuador, completing a long-awaited project to teach ESL through singing and playing ukulele at the St. George Centro de Nivelacion.  Both Gen and Catherine trained under the James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom series, Level 3. They teach private lessons at home for students of all ages.

Members of the Bell City Strummers will also be available to assist.

This free program is designed for Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees who want to improve their conversational English, learn about community services, and explore Canadian culture and customs.
