Book a Librarian

Our Book a Librarian program provides you with one hour of one-on-one help from Library staff. During this session, our staff can help you with:

  • Using the Internet
  • Using online databases
  • Accessing our digital collection and online tools
  • Searching and using our online catalogue
  • Finding books
  • Research tips Introduction to family history resources

One-on-one sessions will be held at our Main Branch. Note:  Library staff is unable to assist with troubleshooting personal computers/laptops, installing software, typing documents and forms, and making online purchases.

The Library’s LinkedIn Learning service offers free online courses on a variety of tech topics, including iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tablets. On our Research and Learning page, you can sign in for free with your library card and PIN.

It's Slime Time!

Get ready for a messy, gooey time at the Library! Join us for an afternoon of slime-making fun! Unleash your inner scientist and experiment with different ingredients! Then take your creation home!

This is a drop-in program for kids ages 8-12.

Bell City Strum Club

The Bell City Strum Club is a free community group for adults interested in playing ukulele and singing as a group.  Beginners are welcome; no previous experience with the ukulele is required.  At each gathering we’ll take the time to teach chords and strumming techniques, moving forward at a pace that allows everyone to feel confident. Members of the Bell City Strummers will be available to assist. 

The BCSC meets twice a month for 90 minutes. Registration is not required, but new members should email Robin at rharding@brantfordlibrary.ca to introduce themselves and for a brief orientation. A limited number of ukuleles and music stands are available to borrow.

About Catherine and Genevieve:
Catherine Gorecki and Genevieve Rochette have played and taught together for ten years. They teach lessons for students of all ages, including school ukulele ensembles at Ecole Dufferin and St. George German School. In 2023, they travelled to Banos, Ecuador, to teach ESL through ukulele instruction, and in 2025, they co-chaired the first annual Brantford Ukulele Festival to sold-out crowds. Join us every Monday for in-person rhymes, sensory development activities, motor skill methods, stories, and socializing among babies and caregivers. Books from our collection will be carefully selected with a particular theme and are available for borrowing.   Ages 0 – 18 months.

This free program is designed for Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees who want to improve their conversational English, learn about community services, and explore Canadian culture and customs.
